Cover letter is letter sent to recruiters along with resume to deliver added information on the applicant’s skills and expertise. The letter provides added information on why the applicant is applying for the job and qualification he/she is having on the same field. A cover letter supplements each resume send out by the applicant/job seeker.
Employers use cover letters as gate way to screen applicants for jobs and helps them to determine which candidate they would like to interview. The recruiter/job poster will clearly mention if he/ she needs cover letter along with the resume. But usually job seekers will attach cover letter so that the recruiter will get a hand on the job seeker’s qualification and previous job experience.

Application Letter: An application letter is a type of cover letter written by the job seeker to apply for a specific job opening or a known job posting.

Referral Cover Letter: A referral cover letter is a type of cover letter which mentions the name of a person who referred the job seeker to the job.

Networking Letter: Networking letters is a type of cover letter which request job search, advice and assistance.


Value Proposition Letter: A value proposition is a type of cover letter which is a brief statement concisely explains what makes the job seeker different from other candidates. The job seeker will be presented as a unique job candidate and how he or she will add value to a company.
